  • Hatred Site

A site dedicated solely to harassing or stalking a person, or group of people, or attacking ethnic, religious or other groups.

  • I am for this since xanga is mostly a place for children to chat and be friends with other children. They do not need to be exposed to these kind of ill contents.

  • I dont see why people have to waste their time on creating a website JUST for hate.

    They need God.

  • I agree it’s unreasonable and sensless.

  • As long as no one’s freedom of speech is impeded (racist and hate speech are actually protected under the First Amendment), it’s fine. I’m no racist, but if Xanga censors me, I’m out.

  • check that–xanga’s not a government entity…. whoopsie

  • I suppose flagging such sites has merit, but would it possibly be counterproductive by making them easier to find?

  • There are quite a few racist sites out there. And yes, since xanga has no ties to the government, they can block and censor whoever the eff they want.  I think this is a good idea.

  • I like this, as long as the distinction is clear between attacking and promoting the opposition. For example, I know several people whose sites are dedicated to advancing Christianity (and a couple advancing atheism) by various means including attempting to disprove the opposition. I think this is perfectly fine; the debates remain reasonable and if someone starts getting mad or posts an ad hominem argument, others in the debate quickly correct him.

Just because a religion is exclusive, it does not follow that it necessitates hatred for those who don’t follow it….

  • This really needs to be more clearly defined.  Way too vague.  If so, a lot of sites will be shut down because of how people do not tolerate others.

  • Very good idea, but xanga should carefully review.  A site that says, for instance, it wants to help people out of the homosexual lifestyle is not a hate site at all.  (I believe that’s a very loving to do…)  A site that says it’s ok to hurt homosexual people is a hate site, but could actually be tagged better as “threat of physical harm”.  So I think this flag is good in principle, but Xanga should review carefully and make the final decision.

  • If you’ve ever been someone who’s been a victim of a hate site (I had the pleasure of having not one, but two hate sites devoted to me a year ago, both Xanga), you realize how clear that line really is.

  • Yes, it’s too vague.

  • Xanga…you’re not going to stop the problem.

I had no less than seven hate sites posting things about me six months ago. I shut them down. Myself. No thanks to you guys.

  • I think that there’s a line.  People do have freedom of speech…and since we’re military, obviously I’m all for defending that right…I think with this flag you need to be very careful.  No one makes you read their site.  If they comment on yours and you don’t like what they have to say I would say delete it.  If it’s a group threating action against another group or person I’m all for it…but I think that would be a different flag.

  • people are entitled to hating whomever they want.
stalking, harrasment, attacks and threats are a different category.

    Cheers!

  • I agree that people should be able to hate whoever they want. That’s not the issue. The issue is that people make little Xanga’s to recruit other people to join in on hating a particular person and harrass them with comments. And when they all band together it can be worse then all of them hating you individually.

  • totally. it’s sad that some ppl create accounts just to harrass others.

  • I agree With this…..Its not taking away any Freedom of speech….This isnt the constitution…This is Xanga……They can have thier own policies….Just like any other business…..If you dont want to abide by them…..Leave…..If you HATE someone…because they arent like you…..Your ignorant, And shouldnt be granted the freedom of having a xanga…

  • I don’t really care, mabye it would stop all the drama that starts on xanga.

  • Your concept of filtering against “hate-xanga” is good. Perhaps this idea of a “hate site” could be merged with another category, such as “threat of physical harm.” Usually, people who are full of rage like this tend to publish their nonsense with a recommended “course of action” to vent their hate, since after all, all hate is directed. For instance, if someone were to say that they disliked a people-group, the tendency for such a person is to offer the advice of “killing all of race x” or “deport all of race x.” As a result, the point of hate may clearly manifest in their expression of the desire to hurt, harm, stalk, or harass another people group etc. etc. Hope this helps! God bless u!

  • Agree.. too vague…

  • I agree with this one, so long as expressing your opinion and disagreement with other groups does not constitute hate.

  • i definately agree with this one.

  • I already know the one site that I want rid of, the one that was made against me so long ago, no one writes in it anymore (since August of 2005) but it’s still hurtful to find it lingering about on other peoples xangas.

I’ll report it in due time.

    Krystina

  • “…solely”? Does that mean hate is okay if it’s mixed in with details about their daily diet, what they did in school today, etc.?

  • This needs to be carefully defined because honest opposition to an idea, statement, lifestyle, etc., however blunt, is NOT hate.

  • While I abhor hate sites, I think there are First Amendment issues here. We don’t want ALL of Xanga to suffer if some idiot decides to fight this. Perhaps there should be a warning before entering a site that has been reported as a Hate Site??? I want them to go away as much as everyone. But it is just like a TV show or movie you don’t like, stop watching. But…if there are no issues with the the law, and the rest of us don’t suffer, I say flag EVERY site that advocates hate for any group or people.

  • Totally agree since someone set up 2 accounts I am aware of to harass me.

  • stalking is also very vague…

  • pretty good idea…. hate sites are pointless

  • I found a site that Hates people who Hate people. Please get rid of him. He is a nuisance to society. His site name is JesusChrist.

  • I really agree with this one, it’s a major problem…it spawns hate comments and inappropriate conversations.

  • YES YES YES

  • There are two sites on Xanga right now that have been created to stalk and leave malicious comments.  How do I go about closing these down.  One of the names is horrible and I can’t see how Xanga hasn’t shut this one down on name alone.

    Donna

  • sounds like a plan

  • I have, in my experience been targeted by sites soley for the purpose of harrasment. It would be great to have these sites being removed just a few clicks away…

Hate sites should, however, be kept on record.

Earlier this year, while I blogged the fact that I was frustrated about a situation I was in; I started getting flames from unidentified Xangans. I always stated that I would never stoop to any level of immature behavior, and yet somehow I became the one marked as physically dangerous. I was actually told that I might have to speak to the police.

I was fortunate to have semi-resolved that situation. It made no sense to begin with, as do all hate sites in a community like this.

The description of this flag is very clear cut. :thumbs up:

  • Several people have already stated my feelings, but to add my voice to the chorus:

The rules need to be very specific.  Sites that promote one point of view are not necessarily hate sites; I fear sites such as these may be flagged if someone just wants to shut them down.

quietpanther and capsACE99 said it best; I’m with them on this one.

  • ive had some hate sites against a certain group of people, and i happened to be part of that group… it wasnt even a religous group, or anything… i just like a certain movie… so they bit my head off…. i aggree with this one, though i still think you should be careful about banning people for hating someone. even though you dont like it, its still their right to hate you… not sure why, but it is

  • I agree with crimson…but still putting a hate site up is retarted

  • I think it is ok to have an opinion, but I do not think it is ok to bash people.

  • i’ll keep both eyes on the look out.

  • only a coward would do such a thing….or a person wiht too much time on thier hands

  • i don’t think this flag is necessariy for those who advocate for some immoral civil wrong. there are people who create sites so they can go onto other people’s sites and comment using vulgar language or to read simple entries and post critical responces regarding those simple entries brutally bashing things like, “I love my friends,” turning it into some supposed cult idiocy.
even the first amendment has it’s limits- and i think that’s what a lot of these commenters need to remember. there is always a limit.

  • I think this one is pretty specific guys. We’re not talking about someone mouthing off, we’re talking about an entire xanga site designed to promote “harrassing, stalking, or attacking”.

I think what really needs to be addressed is how these flags are screened and enforced after the fact. There are real differences in how to deal with each category, and I think those consequences should be included in any proposal asking users to report offenses.

  • Yea…Since there’re lots of people using xanga to harassing or stalking a person.

This kind of situlations is really popular among users in Hong Kong.

So this idea is really good.

  • It should be extended to include site which aggressively promote a particular stance on religion or ethics issues… for instance abortion. There are many, MANY sites out there banging on about christianity which forget christianity’s basic message of “love”. There are many MANY pro-life sites out there who post comments with offensive images on people’s blogs to try and garner support (when all it does is make people cry).

  • Seen a few of them. Had some nasty person leave a nasty comment, blocked her from my site. It’s just like the TV, don’t like it, turn the channel. Take it off your site. Don’t go there. Tell your children the rules of blogging before you allow them to have a site, and keep an eye on who and what they are saying/doing. You are still the parent.

  • The nazi sites for example….. have to GO!

  • First Amendment and Xanga…..  kind of like oil and water?

  • Hey Dude!

What’s up?! Just browsing through Xangas and came across your’s! How’s you? Please visit mine :)

  • I’ve said it before and will say it again – use your creative abilities and talents for good – not evil. It takes much more emotion and energy to hate than it does to love. People writing hate sites need to get lives! Their own lives.

  • hate sites, like adult content, should be ONLY on protected posts, and ONLY if there are no minors on the protected list.  Hate is just something that we can’t block out.  we have to convince individuals that their hate is wrong.  all that we are going to do by censoring hate groups is add to their hate.

And hate speech IS protected by the first amendment

  • I have one thing to say to you on this.

HAHAHAHA.  LIKE XANGA WILL STOP IT.  After I’ve sent Xanga, what, ten emails with over fifty sites that TheUnstained has posted on telling people to harass me?  And after I know dozens of readers have emailed about that whole little Christo-fascist clique?  After The_Sword_Of_Truth has posted his exact opinions on my personal life and on what he thinks should happen (read 27 March) to me to bring me to his sick God?  Seriously, you’re retarded.  It would be nice, but if Xanga cared more about people than their wallets than sites like this wouldn’t be necessary.

  • Hi, I am a concerned xanga citizen and I would like to report a site.

The following site has DRUGS and PORN!!!

    Non_Featured_Content

    Please censor this site immediately.

  • I’m all for this one because I’ve seen far too many of these.  Most of the ones blocked on my site come from sites that are just there to preach pure hatred.  it doesn’t have a place and takes away from the xanga community.  Let these people create their own personal websites if they feel they have to preach their hatred but keep it out of xanga.  And I’m talking blatant hatred, not just disagreements and such.

  • We must make sure, though, that those of us who post Christian content are not flagged because someone perceived our beliefs to be “hatred”.

  • There always seem to be a hate to a new idea.
    I think it’s quite fine.

  • Freedom of speech should not be censored. Not unless the safety of someone is threatened, this flag shouldn’t be used. Noone’s making you read a site, you can leave at any time. Censorship isn’t going to stop hatred, probably just increase it. Only use these flags if someone’s being threatened with violence.

  • I agree with this idea and since this is not a US government sponsored or anything and is a PRIVATE like company the 1st amendment doesnt apply and even if it was the US government it really wouldn’t matter ’cause of the patriot act

  • support the first amendment

    defend our freedoms

  • does hating the RIAA count (not a race, just a group of idiots) besides, why cant people have hate sites? i dont believe in racism (in fact, i hate it) but aren’t people entitled to their own opinions? isn’t that what xanga is about, sharing your opinions with others? if not, then what’s the point? acting on the hate is one thing, talking about it is another thing. as i said i dont believe in racism or commiting hate crimes, but if you dislike something to such an extent that it ca be considered hate then you should be allowed to vent that anger in a nonviolent way, such as xangaing  (weird word)  it. also you have to decide what hate is defined as, is it speaking out against something, if so then say goodbye to about 1/8 of all the sites and blogrings. xanga has, in the past, been a great place to come and vent anger or speak to others about your beliefs so why cahnge that? besides, as it has been said, flagging what you consider a “hate” site only draws attention to that site, which in effect makes more people read them and spreads the socalled “hate”. and if you disagree with what i say, then watch out because your disagreeing with me could get you flagged as a hater.

  • .

  • ahh, but if you look at it, going against someone’s hate is to be intolerant of that person’s beliefs.

  • omg i agree =-=;; there was this really messed up guy who’s xanga was just for insulting asians and it had all these hateful sayings about asians …he came to ALLL of the azn ppl’s xangas and left rude comments like “u chink go die and burn in hell”

  • Well I agree with guitarpanther on this one cause I like to look at the political sites, and those, if someone was extremely passionate or sensitive on a certain subject, could be considered a hate site.

But, I also think that in this politically correct world we live in, we think that the worst thing in the world is hurting other people’s feelings. Kids, and some adults, need to get thicker skinned. if you can’t handle a little name calling, then your screwed when you have to deal in the real world. Hate’s an rotten and ungodly thing, but if people can’t just ignore something they aren’t forced to look at, what are they gonna do when someone actually says it to them?

I think, like other people, that a lot of the hate sites out there could actuallt be classified as a physical threat, but, other than those ones, I don’t really think this is a good flag.

  • Well
    What about the 1st ammendment?

I cuss a lot. That might offend people and sometimes, WORDS define people as racists, but freely speaking words without threat of intervention makes us a free country and a true American.

  • This is my favorite flag because I’ve come across this so often!  People also create sites just to leave mean, semi-anonymous comments to others.

  • I’m not sure about this one…at what point does expressing your opinions (and the right to express your opinions) blur and become “hate”? I think everyone’s definition of hate speech would be different, would start at different levels. We all agree in the extreme cases, but certain people are more sensitive than others and might constitute something more minor as hate speech.

  • Heres someone whose hating and attacking me

Hope you guys can help me report her

    http://www.xanga.com/DebShanker3

she had her original site “realdebshanker”, shut down again.

This is her new one, and its a copy of her old one.

  • hmmm…i agree. deffinitely.

a ‘friend’of mine created a site when she was mad at me and my other friend. she used to rite how much she hated us but then made those protected. now she posts about other things, but still.

  • WHITE_POWER123. White supremacist much?

  • umm… getting a life would be a good suggestion for you

  • As long as you have sites that can be opened and closed at will, there is no way of stopping people being insulting and hurting other people quite deliberately, not to mention advocating all sorts of illegal actions.  How is flagging going to do anything:?

  • My only concern is that some may express disaproval of a certain behavior (Such as sexual promiscuity, etc) , but not the person exhibiting said behavior. Or perhaps write of disagreement with a belief, without hating those who hold it. I would hope that these examples would not end up being flagged. Speak the truth in love, I say. Everybody is way too easily offended by differing opinions these days.

  • While it is true that xanga is not the government, several non-government entities place restritions upon people all the time so that those who desire to enjoy those entities without being subject to derogatory presentations may do so. Xanga authorities should be capable of enforcing whatever rules they desire for the greater good of the bloggers who blog here.

I will support this flag wholeheartedly.

  • I think hate sites need to be more clearly defined. Is a hate site one that promotes another group or person harm or just one that says things? Are they posting things that could be considered libel? Or are they just complaining about a group of people? Is it a few posts or is it the entire site? For the most part all your flag definitions are way too vague. I’d like to know exactly what will be flagged…not just a general such and such.

  • I believe such  rules already existed on xanga . We already could inform you of abuses or about comments agressive ( we can block them ).

Sometimes the best is the ennemy of good

     Michel ( France )

  • against.

what about those against a company or government? say a falungong member defending his freedom of speech said sth against the chinese government? OR a scam victim expressing his feelings and expereiences of how he was cheating by a company…? things like that. too large a grey area between hatred and freedom of speech.

  • I totally agree. I have another site [anonomously] that I have on Xanga and I reported someone using racial slurrs to refer to me, yet Xanga did not do anything! It was frustrating. I don’t like being called a “Beaner”. It infuriated me. So this one should be STRONGLY implemented.

  • Please shut this boy’s site down: http://www.xanga.com/Xfreakshow96X He was the one I tried to report.

  • this is just the begaining of commies first lets get rid of hatred sites then we all work for the comin good

well I AM HITLER AND U CANT DO ANYTHING

  • Geez, for those of you who are indignant that Xanga didn’t do anything to help you before, shut your mouth and shove it! Let them do what they gotta do NOW so it won’t happen to anyone else. It’s pointless to say that you had to do it yourself because we all know that xanga wasn’t doing this before.

  • I have a stalker and the name is drewfuspoohfus. They made this page just to come to my blog daily and harrass me. Nothing was ever filled out in it, just made up to see what I’m doing. I think this is a good idea. Some of the rest, Im not so sure about.

  • Great idea- recently someone put up two sites dedicated to expressing their ill feelings to my brother and my orchestra. the sites are virtuosiSUXX and virtuosisucks.

    Thank you

  • They don’t need God, sarsiipops. As a matter of fact, many people who make hate sites often feel that God is supporting them all the way.

People need to stop using “freedom of speech” to argue against this. These are rules that everyone agreed to when they joined Xanga; now they’re actually enforcing them.

  • I have read a comment in this thread by a person with the ID ‘haramzadi’ (http://www.xanga.com/haramzadi). He has complained here about another person with xanga ID realdebshanker (http://www.xanga.com/realdebshanker) which has been shut down due to the efforts of you all. Realdebshanker has recreated a new xanga account ‘debshanker3′ (http://www.xanga.com/debshanker3) . Haramzadi is claiming that debshanker3 is abusing him. There may be some truth to it. However, these two were heatedly discussing Islam/MiddleEast/USA/Bush/Ahmadnedijad in another Xanga site owned by ‘c00999az’ (http://www.xanga.com/c00999az). Both were insulting each other.

Below are some selected quotes from Haramzadi’s comments at ‘c00999az’. If you read them you will know that ‘haramzadi’ is not your typical innocent person who is being ‘abused’ by ‘realdebshanker’ or ’debshanker3′. So, I suggest that all of you should consider more than one person’s request here to spam the admin’s mailbox with complaints about one person’s xanga site.

Thank you very much to all of you for your time.

    Lisa Lupini

P.S. Below are Top Ten Haramzadi’s comments to Deb at http://www.xanga.com/c00999az

    1. But whats funny deb is I just took a shit in the bible, wrapped it in an American and Israeli flag, then sit it on fire whilst pissing on it, after that I proceded to shove the burnt mass of defile up a dead U.S soldiers ass and then took a cross shaped shit on his grave. That’ll make a good memorial for those sad little bastards dieing in Iraq.

    2. Lets hope 9/11 happens again, and that every U.S troop in Iraq dies and their family is beheaded as well.

    3. Oh yeah, you missed my 10 page long fantasy story about raping a U.S marines wife on clitical.com forums, unfortunately they deleted it :(

    4. Lets hope that Christianity is rejected across the world, and people wakeup and stop fighting wars for oil.

    5. But I did indeed shit on a bible and burn a flag, I do it every 4th of July, maybe i’ll take pics for you this time.

    6. You keep talking about 9/11 this 9/11 that, what you dont know is that the people who died on 9/11 were nazi whores whose families deserve to die as well. None of them were innocent, and they all raped their wives and children. But of course, most of America is a bastard race of white ape Christians, raped by their fake god (the 3 headed demon).

    7. All the people in 9/11 deserved to die

    8. Long live Iran

    9. Long live the people of Iraq

    10. May America burn in a smoldering fire of unending fury, just like those sad stupid 9/11 Eichman

  • How would this be bad at all?
It’s not Xanga.gov, and who advocates hate speech? Enough “first amendment” stuff, it’s offensive….

  • Great, woop-de-do, now, instead of jsut ignoring people you don’t like, you can flag them and get them in trouble. Sort of like the Nazis calling each other Jews.

  • This is great! I don’t even see why people would even waste their time to make a Xanga about these kind of things.

  • Hmm… But then again… I hope you don’t misunderstand people. We should still have our opinions out there. I mean there are alot of blogs and articles out there that talks maliciously about people everywhere… I don’t believe you could actually stop that. In the end, you guys would end up deleting many sites out there.

So I hope when you say “harassing” people, you only mean it to the extreme. I say we should be able to say what we think of the person… just not like, “She should go back to her own country,” or something like that.

  • Bad idea…if I make the “I hate terrorists site” no one would care…

But if I made a “I hate Bush site,” it would be censored?

    Bad idea.

    Hate is not a crime.

  • Hate may not be a crime, but it already is in Xanga’s user agreements that you aren’t allowed to post racist material. Too bad nobody reads anymore.

  • I agree 100% with this. Noone should even wanna make up hate sites. What are they bored and evil? They need God. I think these Xanga flags are great, just so they are effective and get rid of the problem.

    Cristy

  • I definitely support this.

  • Whoa!!!! good job you guys i totally agree i e-mailed you guys about a site just for hate. a couple of months ago and i think its a good idea to put flags up and let people know that the guys site is a wierdo. because the guy who was harassing me was going around and calling people names for no reason so i think it is cool that you guys got a flagging system.

  • so sites like: thomashater06

would be illegal since they created the account just o post on a friends site and say how much they hated him? peace

    Jeremy

  • I don’t like tha hatred, but sometimez i do tht to get out my frustration.

    Demonte

  • yes. because hate shouldn’t be spread.

  • I dont know what to say.  One, racism/harassment is against the ToS, But its supported by the first amendment.  But after all, this site is private property, and dosnt support hatred.  So i have to agree with this flag, and it should be in use.

  • I think the key words here are “dedicated solely”. That puts things in an entirely different light, which is fine. One may hate others and express their opinion, BUT that can’t be what their site is about. Thanks Xanga!

  • So where’s the line going to be? If the word hate pops up is that a flag? or are we talking more along the lines of organizing for malicious purposes?

  • I know exactly where this could be applied.

  • It’s not unconstitutional… if Xanga doesn’t want to host hate sites, they shouldn’t have to just because they provide free hosting, you know? I know that people hate each other sometimes, and nobody can do anything to stop it, but Xanga has the right to say take your hatred somewhere else, we are not that kind of weblog community. I agree with this one.

  • If anyone is THREATENED by a hate site, CONTACT YOUR LOCAL LAW-ENFORCEMENT AGENCY. Xanga is a FREEDOM OF SPEECH AGENCY, not a LAW-ENFORCEMENT AGENCY.

  • I used to have a problem with that when mine was public (which is why I went private).  One person created several accounts to do that very thing…and I still don’t know who it was.

  • surely this will not allow any kind of administrative action to incur upon any kind of political speech, even such speech against another party??

personally i think flags of any kind are unnecessary, especially a “self-harm advocacy” flag.  if someone is suicidal, it could be beneficial to have that knowledge out in the open.  it could possibly save a life if someone knows of self-harm, rather than it being forcibly hidden because it might scare someone.

offensive content, and fraud flags, sure.  i’m all for it.  im not a big fan of hatred but i can’t have free speech outlawed no matter how malicious it may be.  as for the safety flags, i say let people be accountable for their own actions.  if they give out too much information, theyll end up suffering the consequences, if any.

    hope my thoughts are useful

  • Please. I had problems last summer with hate sites and stalkers, and no matter how much I sent emails and things about them to xanga, I got nothing in return.

Like these flags will make a difference. Unless xanga starts paying more attention to their users with this, it won’t. So if they’re going to make these, they’d better pay attention to them.

  • what is used to measure ‘hate” is there an actual list of characteristics that are looked for or is more an impression of the site as a whole?  No objections on my part, I am just curious.

  • if you are going to do that, then y cant we write::::

    h
    a
    t
e (sideways so its not blocked)

but at the same time, swear? even the f word will show up on my profile! before you do that, fix the other swearing problem.

  • I am against someone deciding what is and what is not politically incorrect or politically correct. I would not intentionally hurt anyone’s feelings, but I don’t want someone or something deciding what I can and cannot say. I am against any form of censorship. And as far as protecting children, it is up to the parents to teach them what they choose. I don’t have children. I don’t like children. Why should we be censored in the name of protecting children? Let the parents teach them right from wrong. That’s what irritates me. It’s not all about children. They are also good at using religion to hide behind when they can’t or won’t guide their own offspring.

  • I think its a good idea to give them a warning to stop or be termed from xanga….

  • I think its a good idea to give them a warning to stop or be termed from xanga….

  • if a site is soley dedicated to it…then its bad
but if the person rants for like 2 days on how frustrated they are about say someone and makes generalizations…
i see no reason to ban or something unless that person makes it a hate site…

  • In a free society, one must tolerate unpopular viewpoints.  Although hate sites against certain groups or religions are unlightened and distasteful, I feel they should be allowed.  It’s the price of freedom.

However, in rare instances when a blog targets one specific person, and they are not a public figure, I do see a need for Xanga for step in and perhaps turn off the blog.   Especially if the blogger is revealing personal information and facts that should be kept private.  This type of harrassment and stalking – directed to a single person – should not be permitted.

  • Xanga is not a free society. It is a privately owned business. What they’re doing is totally legal.

  • Personally, I’ve been rather shocked by the amount of sites promoting genocide, hatred and irrationality toward blacks and jews on this site. There are blogrings dedicated to the KKK. I see absolutely no valid reason why these accounts need to be tolerated.

  • “Flags are only a warning sign, not censorship.”

I saw that comment on a random site just a little while ago. It reminded me a lot of what people were saying when Hitler wanted to “flag” the jews. Don’t believe the jews didn’t see Hitler coming. Because they did. They just didn’t do shit about it. They let some crackerfool slowly invade them and take away their rights. First thing Hitler did was what? Anybody know? Any of you vuvlaheads know?

The first thing Hitler did was to LABEL the jews. Once they were clearly labeled and distinctively marked, he could then easily round them up and toss them in ovens. WTF?? Now ask yourself, why did the jews let themselves be labeled?

    Flags = Labeling.

Why did the jews allow Hitler to pass a law which prevented jewish people from owning firearms? Why did the jews allow Hitler to burn their books?

People really have no clue huh doc? They have no recollection of history. Just a bunch of strungout computer monkeys typing away about their day at the local mall, not realizing that they are either part of the solution, or part of the problem.

BXU! -member for life. (Viva Revolution!)

  • “As long as no one’s freedom of speech is impeded (racist and hate speech are actually protected under the First Amendment), it’s fine. I’m no racist, but if Xanga censors me, I’m out.”

    that is correct.

  • Wow…I am STRONGLY against this.  If it goes into effect, then I’ll expect a full refund.

What happened to free speech?  If I hate child rapists, I can’t post that?

Of course, you do specify that it only goes into effect that this only applies if someone creates a site dedicated “soley” for promoting hatred.  So, if six days a week I write about how much I hate a cerain ethnic group, but on Sundays I post about what I bought at the grocery store, that’s okay?

  • Too vague.  Therefore pointless.  Kiddie porn, OK I see the need for desperate measures, although you should still look for other ways to police Xanga than to ask Xangans to spy on Xangans.  It smacks of Hitler’s Germany; it smacks of Stalin’s Russia.  The “crimes” are different, I know.  The so-called criminals in those other countries were attempting to exercise religious freedom or daring to express opinions that didn’t agree with the State.  It’s a different situation here.  Child exploiters, or those who incite hatred — they’re violating laws that are on the books for valid reasons and they should not be able to use Xanga to harm others.

But this method is wrong.  Hire more people if you must.  But do not institute this flagging system, where Xangans report each other.  It invites abuse.

I recognize that you need to cover your ass.  But do it in the right way, not the wrong way.

And make no mistake.  That’s ALL you’re doing, is covering your ass.  You’re not protecting anyone, especially not the kids.  They’ll find ways to get into the trouble you fear.  Just not here on Xanga.  Fine.  Cover your ass.  But don’t try to pretend you’re protecting the victims of predators, or anorexics or bulimiacs, or the victims of hate mongers.  This does nothing to protect them.  It only protects Xanga.  That’s your right and your duty, to protect Xanga.

Just do it the right way.  Hire more staff and pay them to police the sites.  Don’t use Xanga users to do that.  That would be wrong.

  • umm yea this is kind of sad. Who just to stalk someone or attack and ethic group. We as people should really be trying to tolerate more not just feed the fire

  • I’m with Crimson Zephyr. Once you start limiting content, why would people want to come here? I agree that it’s sad that people hate, but let them write it here. Perhaps it’ll spark a debate that’ll make them think!

Actual threats are indeed a different story. Once you make it somebody else’s business, then you’ve crossed a line.

  • this is a good one cause it pisses me off how people can do that.

  • NukePounders : I cannot believe you managed to tie in Xanga flags with what Nazis did to the Jews. That is just straight-up ridiculous, especially since this is supposed to help get rid of the Nazi sites on Xanga!

I also find it amusing that you say people have no clue and no recollection about history. Turns out, neither do you. The First Amendment only says that Congress cannot pass laws that prevents people from practicing freedom of speech. It says absolutely nothing about businesses, like Xanga, making rules such as these. And if you’ll look at the user term agreements, you’ve already agreed to these rules.

  • Hate whomever you want, but don’t dedicate a site to push it on me or anyone else. Hate is a horrible thing.

  • i agree with the first comment this is a site mainly for kids and they shouldnt be exposed to this

  • i agree that we need to censor these things out becuase if we are inoccent people just wanting to have our good website, we dont have to be exposed to this material

  • IF YOU HAVE TIME TO CREATE A HATRED SITE, YOU NEED A LYFE

  • alot of people just create hateful sites to get many many many props.

  • I don’t like this one.

Stalking or harassing someone is definitely unacceptable and it should be dealt with. But I think that individual users who are being stalked/harassed can report it on their own and thus there is no need for the flag.

As for sites which attack religious/ethnic/whatever groups, I don’t think these should be shut down unless they are actually threatening violence. I don’t like these sites, but shutting them down makes it seem as if these opinions don’t exist. The world is not a nice place and banning these types of sites sugarcoats the fact that, yes, there are neo-nazis, racists, and people who hate homosexuals.

  • definitely flag this one. there are too many bashing sites.

  • Sorry, but I think religious groups (especially fundamentalist Christian and Islam) do more hating than being targets of hate.  Why don’t you just flag all these religous sites as hate sites and ban them!

  • If you’re against Pro-Ana sites then don’t forget the Anti-Ana ones! That’s all I have to say, though I feel they have their rites too…

  • Try this guys website hes a hater      truth_100 or its thetruth_100

  • I understand that promoting hate is not necessarily a positive in society but with that said, it is a persons right. I would say that people should be free to express themselves here on Xanga but this flag could be used when said hate monger promotes violence. Xanga is however a private entity and the ‘hate’ flag will utilized and the user removed by the powers that be. I would like not to see ‘haters’ being discriminated against becuase they are haters, unless they promote violence or obscene acts becuase that then makes the powers at Xanga exactly what they are trying to prevent.

    Keep up the good work.

  • if you want to make things safer for kids and adults everywhere….. do somthing like macaffee did.. make a email address, give it to every email across the world, and to all parents. Telling them whats good or bad.

IF GOD DIDN’T WANT ANYONE TO INFLICT HARM ON THEMSELVES, THEY WOULDN’T HAVE MADE A PERSON THAT WAY! DUH!

    *~!Genesis!~*

  • I agree…this site people should not be hated on..

  • in a way this is cool but then its not ppl have a thing its called FREEDOM its basicly wut livin in this country is about (bush suks but thats beside the point)  so u should have freedom to h8 ppl all u want but threts r another as long as they talk and dont do it then its fine but if they do do it then thats nun of xangas buisness thats the cops or w/e!!

  • Personal hate yes, group hate be carfull there but maybe yes

  • “Why don’t you just flag all these religous sites as hate sites and ban them!” –jacktan

Q.E.D…. If you’re going to make this flag work it needs a much more practical definition. Otherwise people will simply use it to flag anything they don’t like, and the hate flag itself will be used as hate harassment.

  • When a specific person is targeted for personal reasons, I agree that this kind of flag is completely necessary.  I just worry that certain people will abuse flagging for issues of race or religion, and once some sort of “line” is drawn between what is appropriate and what is not, it seems likely that freedom of speech will come under attack… I’d tread lightly

  • i dont see why people create a site for hatred

  • I agree completely.  ^_^

  • I’m for this one, as long as the people reviewing this realize there is a difference between discourse and hate.

I think this flag should be linked closely with the “threat of physical harm” flag, as a hate site probably threatens physical harm to at least one person if not an entire group of people.

  • if it is against ana and mia haters count me in

  • well, everyone is offended by sumthin’ its 2 hard 2 just eliminate everything offensive ’cause then there would be nothing left

  • thank you i  do agree on this one!! thank you so much but the others gosh!!

  • all i have to say is….DAMN AMISH!

  • all for it.

  • what about the blogrings??? some have encourage hatred and the thing is we can be looking for one thing and all that comes up is hatred rings …

the rings have to be more ‘picky’ then too …

i really wish that you would keep track of the rings that arre started. i know of a person looking for a rape survivor support rings and she found a lot on supporting the rape concept …

    — an experiment for you guys … type in rape or jewish blogring search … and see what comes up …

  • This is a great idea.

  • this, definitely.

sites like that are very negative and unnecessary

  • I don’t think that there should be any censorship, personally–children will be exposed to a site like this at some point in their lives, just as they will a pornographic site, whether by accident or not…people should be able to promote whatever views they have, even if they could be considered “offensive”. What is offensive to one person may not always be offensive to another…people can hate whomever they wish, when the sites turn potentially violent, that’s another matter.

  • “Hatred groups” are things like skinheads and the KKK, aren’t they?  The rest of this is really the definition of an internet troll — and those are everywhere, not just on Xanga.  And the only way to get rid of them is to ignore them, and they move on.  Blocking them only makes them try harder to get in.  :-/

    Trish

  • Sometimes opinions can be TAKEN as hatred, when they are really not. Is the line obscure? Would there be a just way to evaluate what is really a hate site and what is just the site of a person who happens to have different opinions, and says such?

  • “Other groups?”  Let’s slash that and keep this based purely on protecting the demographics.  I think McDonald’s will be okay, if someone made the joke,”Going to McDonald’s for salad is like going to a crack house for vitamins.”  Certain organizations take advantage of people and should be criticized.  As long as no deflamatory or untrue remarks are made about one’s demographics or character are made, I think we’ll all survive.

  • This is a good one. I can understand a couple of posts or a couple of comments but a whole site? I don’t see the point.

  • I think there should be a distinction made between hatred of individual people and hatred of ideologies.  If I hate an idea, or if I hate someone’s belief system, then I should be able to say so, and I should be able to say that they’re wrong, misguided, and possibly stupid, too.

But if someone is just raging about how much they dislike someone else, then they’re just contributing to the pointlessness and wearyingly monotonous ranting of the internet, and we won’t lose anything of value by having them shut down.

  • I agree with this. My reason being is that I have had to shut down several sites before.. People had either hacked my account, or spammed me so much that I just couldnt take it anymore. And I have reason to believe that it was because of my beliefs.

  • ya, im totally against that… what about that dude.. Skurch he leaves stupid comments all over xanga.

  • ok, seriously, people, your rights as Americans apply and all, but this is Xanga, and they have a right to screen out and censor sites if they want to, they made it they call the shots. they’re your mothers who wouldnt let you swear when you were kids. shut up and take it.

  • Good idea. Will these flags be made to be applied to blogrings, too?

  • yes!!!!! Would these flags appear by the xanga handle in comments?

  • No.  People write up these blogs to vent their frustrations and their hatreds in a (mostly) harmless cathardic pasttime.  If this is taken away from them, they might find a more violent outlet for their emotions.  Moreover, this type of thing can be too easily misused and abused.  If someone goes on a political rant decrying those opposing his political views, who’s to say that this does or doesn’t constitute “hate”?  If someone gets angry about certain tendencies of a category of people, and they rant about it on their blog, who’s to say that this does or doesn’t constitute “hate”?  Sorry, but I can’t agree at all with this one.

  • This is a great idea. I wish I had known about it sooner.

  • I’d just like to restate this “I like this, as long as the distinction is clear between attacking and promoting the opposition.

Just because a religion is exclusive, it does not follow that it necessitates hatred for those who don’t follow it….”

  • xanga can censor whoever they want.
    i’m for censoring hateful punks

  • ABSOLUTELY ! There is enough hate “out there” so that’s why a lot of us come to these sites and we don’t want it here too. Great idea.

  • hey dont be haten…

  • Xanga seriously needs to stop trying to erode our constitutional rights.
We as American citizens are allowed to hate whomever we want.
We are also allowed to vocalize our hate of that thing.
Wether it be directly or indirectly.
We are allowed to do it.
And by god, I intend to take advantage of that.

In light of these new flags, I’m going to break every potential new rule/flag that I feel violates my civil liberties.
    Including but not limited to:
    Advocating Self Harm
    Vocalized Hatred
    Too Much Personal Info
    Threat Of Physical Harm
    Scam
    and
    Spam

Have a happy goddamn fuckin day you sanctimonius bastards, before I kill you all,

who is about to kill himself
    GO ANOREXIA AND BULIMIA!!!
    YAY CUTTERS!!!
and oh yeah, I hate you all for this.

  • a very good idea….i can’t wait until the flags are introduced so i can flag this hate site i know of…anyway, very good.

  • YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES

  • i’m perfectly content with simply reporting people when they get out of line. i am thoroughly against flagging.

  • Who would have the nerve to do something like that on this site? If this was a real problem xanga would slowly turn into myspace.

  • There is a site from Berryhill_gossip_page… i think it needs to be taken care of there a several post with language and slander about people

  • im soooo for this, since some1 has a hate site about me.

  • THIS 1 IS GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

it keeps pepps safe from weird os!!!!!!!!!

  • No fuck this. Its too fucking broad. I could be flagged for being highly political and bashing a party. Too much room for discernment.

  • How do you define “hate”? If I agree that the Japanese internment during the Second World War was appropriate, is that considered hate? What about Manifest Destiny? If I agree with this ideology, does that make my website a “hate” site? Patriotism is nothing more than state-sponsored racism according to some. Does this mean that if I’m a loyal American citizen that is proud of his country that I’m a racist and my site inappropriate?

The definition is far too vague, and before you know it, it’ll be politically based censorship.

  • i think there is a line between standing up for what you believe in, and actively hating and slandering something/someone. that line is getting more and more thin in the present world…

  • ^To the above: And who determines this? What is the “line” that you speak of? Opinions are opinions, and once you begin to cover up someone because their idea isn’t popular or one of your own, you start a wildfire. On the surface this flag system seems harmless, but it will, undoubtedly escalate to nothing more than full-scale censorship like that of the Soviet Union.

Freedom of speech for all! Fight against censorship!

  • i was just wondering if the person who’se site gets flagged…if they know who flagged them

  • ok the flagging system may be a violation of freedom of speach but the owners of xanga have the right to refuse service but they must check the flagged sites themselves not just kick a user because then some jerk could flag the persons site and it gets deleted for no reason the anorexia thing is wrong and people talking about self mutilation those shouldnt be on the list we all have our own life styles now suicidal instructions or an advertisement for a porno company would be terribly wrong

    )|/(!†<|-

  • yeah im w/ this girl at the top ”sarsiipops” she’s right

  • This is a way to tell people who is talkn bad and who isn’t thats really great, especially for me…. thanx.

  • This is a way to tell people who is talkn bad and who isn’t thats really great, especially for me…. thanx.

  • yay!! I can flag that stupid guy!! He can’t even diss properly without his stupid swear words!! THank you!!!

  • JB12345678900987654321 IS A HATER, IMPERSONATER AND STALKER DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT DAMNIT!!!!!

  • its a gud start…..i support this sysytem whole heartedly, ppl hv freedom of speech ….but that shudnt affct sum1s privacy , blogging is like updating ur own diary, sumthing personal to u … thus the decidion to allow someone to  judge or comment shud b given to the person to whom the site belongs…..some saddists  take undue advantage of ” freedom of speech” and create a nuisance and unwanted anger….hats off to xanga to hav realised this as a problem and for cuming up wid a solution….

    cheers

  • Stupid. Stupid, stupid, stupid. Who cares? It’s freaking Xanga. If I want to hate someone, it’s my constitutional right to do so, regardless of what some administrator tells me. And who defines ‘hate content’ anyway? What kind of moronic feel-good politically-correct bunch of worthless pile of elephant dung IS this?!

I don’t hate. But don’t censor something so broad and subjective as ‘hate.’ Gimme a break.

  • when someone flags a site, check where the flagged has been leaving comments. i saw some death threats today, left on other people’s blogs.

  • Yes to this one.

  • so for example this guy makes a xanga and then says that I hate this person and/or shut down you xanga because xanga sucks, then that’s when you flag that person for Hatred Site?that’s cool.

  • hey umm

someone has a xanga about me so idk what to do.

  • p.s. the url is everyone_hates_shannon

  • I NEED TO FLAG SOMEONE and it WON”T WORK!!!!!!!! Help! Vote_GOP, just left me a comment saying exactly this:

“Who the fuck is this asshole?!

Myspace sucks you fuckin giddy lesbian!

    Go 69 some other bitch!”

First off, I’m not a lesbian. I DON’T even KNOW HIM & he DOESN’T KNOW ME!!! That was COMPLETELY HATEFUL, UNNECESSARY, & OUT of LINE!!!! And he’s not even a teenager! He could be my GRANDFATHER! I personally think his account should be terminated or at LEAST suspended!

    ~WayOfBehaving

  • i tried to flag leeflame84isawfullystupid but the “you have found a bug” page came up. whoever is running the site is only doing so to harass leeflame84 as you will be able to see if you do a human review of either or both of them.

  • this guy is being a real jerk.  he’s not really doing it in a dangerous way, and i don’t know that he set out to target a specific group of people, or if it’s really just random profiles that he picked out, but he is obviously being deliberately offensive.  i have blocked him from my own page, but i don’t know if it should actually be flagged or not- he seems to have gotten some people pretty upset.

  • there’s a hatred site against me! help me shut it down! The site is http://www.xanga.com/Schepflin_lover_2011 ! thanx if u can help!

  • hopefully, someone learns there lesson through all of this. its the 20 century now and i may stand along on this but i believe EVERYONE deserves to be equal, even gays and cripples or whatever. lots of people say cripples or deaf people shouldnt have rights like voting or school, but see that’s just more HATE, it’s tricky. other people say things like women shouldn’t have jobs or have the right to vote and yeah there’s good arguments there, but voting is important to our country and our governments and we gave it to black people and i’m pretty sure mexicans and i saw this cambordian kid voting one time too, so WHY SHOULDN’T WOMEN VOTE THEN?? i, for one, can’t think of much more than like seven reason. also there is a lot of good woman role models for example i can think of six. two of them is cartoon characters but i think the idea is till the same. k thanks for this bye.

  • I’m for this…internet blogging is not used to harass or to bully or to stalk on picked ones, it’s for connection with friends around the world.

  • I flagged a site, but nothing happened…what do i have to do…it’s http://www.xanga.com/nickolausalbertpacione

  • They posted a nude picture…and had lots of hate content….i felt like i had to..

  • also does this flag portect jewish? for example i have a jewsh friend an he wants xanga. i said maybe he shoudnt bcuz we dont now the rules. if he posts a thing about his relgion or israel or money is that ok? k thanks 4 this bye.

  • theres a girl who I do not know her name is http://www.xanga.com/japan_suki  you really need to check her out she somehow came to my site saying the most nasty things to me! and I have never commented her!!! she found me on my friends site, its totally random!

  • There’s a group called I HATE NIGGERS under religion and spirituality in the ‘others’ section.

  • http://groups.xanga.com/groups/group.aspx?id=1120075 I would like to flag if possable for direct use of hateing a certain polical group

  • TAKE DOWN ALL THE STUPID FAKER SITES. The people “busting fakers” they’re so dang annoying and crude.

    fakersinc is one.

  • there is a site in which there is a “man” commenting a bunch of people from my school saying hurtful and disgusting things. many of them are blaming it on me, and it is NOT me. i’d like you to shut down their site. it is

    http://www.xanga.com/nacho_nigga

    thank you

    chelsea

  • Why does it take so long to shut down sites that are obviously hateful in nature? I mean, one at http://www.xanga.com/home.aspx?user=DebShanker4 and you’ll see that it’s all hatred. Worst thing: he keeps coming back with more.

I appreciate the idea of flagging, but it’s only useful if it’s followed through.

  • i wish that you could shut down some ones site after they have sent you so many hatred comments such as ………

                                                                cussing rappedly and much more!

  • i know that you agree with freedom of speech but i think there is a line between freedom of speech and harassment. perhaps site should be shut down because of the harassment they are proposing on other users.

  • jockers_are_sluts is a huge hatred site where they have all these people leave mean comments to a bunch of other people

  • I would like to report Jesus_Phallus at xanga.com. It is a hatred site and they are leaving dispicable comments on people’s sites. Please do something about this.
    Alicia Martinez

  • this was a good idea.
    and while im here…..
    flag http://www.xanga.com/a_awesome_blog for hate site…….

  • can somebody please do something about the guy that’s randomly cursing on christian’s sites?  “you’re a f*****g ass.  plain and simple”  was the comment i found from SexualBubblegumX on my site this morning.  I have no idea who he is.  and there are 4 or 5 other comments on his latest entry from people like me…  is there anything xanga can do??

  • can some help me…this guy is gathering all different kinda girls online and going on to my xanga site and spamming it. i don’t know any of these girls and this guy is taking my xanga username and spreading it all over the web. what a childish play. this guy from this xanga “angel_of_conscience” and “montysIapper”. just keeps on cursing on christians and harassing others for fun. is there anything xanga can do? and also block any search engines that can look up your xanga?

  • I appreciate that Xanga is a business and reserves the right to censor and regulate anything on their collective site (even tho’ it stifles some of the conversation and debate).. but they say they’re serious about shielding people from ‘hate speech’ and they allow a blogring titled “I Hate all White people” to exist ?

  • I flagged http://www.xanga.com/Genocide88 because he is prejudice, I expect a Xanga admin to ban him by his ISP by next week. Yo if anyone is cussing you out normally, flagging is not going to work, simply block the user and move on. Thank you Xanga community.

  • In roleplay blogrings I’m finding a lot of hatred sites with cuss words. We don’t need that. We need to start getting these unapproiate sites down so noone can see them. THIS WAS NOT XANGA’S ORIGINAL PLAN FOR SITES.

  • someone didn’t just attack because of religion or sort, he is already attacking the PEOPLE and post things that could ruin a reputation of a person. There is a law against this if I was in the US I will definitely sue this person.

  • PLEASE shut this site down http://www.xanga.com/dtdx3_362 they put a fake picture of some ugly girl and said that was me . they also swore and are hating towards me . please shut it down :[

  • all these sites . . one , two , three also……. http://www.xanga.com/dtdx3_360 is leaving comments on this site http://www.xanga.com/dtdx3_370 .

i think all these sites are hating on me because i have the most popular layout site on xanga . either way, i can`t stand it . please do something about it :(

  • http://www.xanga.com/KEiSHA_SHAWTiix3 :( please shut them down . she already made a hate site about me before and now she’s trying to again. please please put a stop to her :(

  • =| she also left me a cmnt saying “hah. i knew u waz ugly. showz what u kno.
and you is very rude for blocking me. but dont comment on my new site because it need to be white-bitch free.

  • hay   i know ppl that r harassing me how can i put  a stop to it

  • I am grateful that ye have such a service, a way to report abuse.

  • Cyberbully is illegal, yet I do not see it here anywhere as a reason to shut a page down.  http://www.xanga.com/donatingsheep is cyberbullying and needs to be removed immediately.

  • inappropriate language, and hatred site.

  • We have a blogring of mainly our church members.   Someone has ‘joined’ and  they continually say nasty and mean things about our pastor and his family.  I think this kind of stuff should not be tolerated…..especially in our own blogring.   I hope XANGA will kick him off permanetly!!

  • i dont know how to flag this blog – there is no link to flag there:
